Pembroke Main Street

This is a medieval walled town built of carboniferous limestone with Georgian and later stucco finishes
Under a central scheme with no regard for listing or Conservation Area status unelected local people  have designed this scheme a pastiche of eighties prettificaton.
Alien materials alien colours, see the previous shop fronts in earlier blog.
How may towns are being further homogenised we have lost all sense of pride in our history.
Repair and conserve but do not strip any sense of place with cheap manufactured materials, for the sake of tidyness.

Pembroke Walls December 2013

This is in a conservation area no regard for the law no thought of conservation a victory for the tidy minded short back and sides brigade with no regard for sense of place.
This is a sea cave where has the spoil come from what has been buried was there a proper site investigation?
Each clearance more destruction.

So much for listing and Conservation Areas, they can and are being completely ignored and  job creation agencies with no knowledge are being told to what they wish.

Quoits Mill Pill

With the small islands removed there are no longer any birds feeding from the mud as now they are totaly exposed to the road traffic. Another sanctuary lost by destruction.
