£5 to visit Freshwater West

The National Trust have erected a notice of works at Freshwater West to regulate water levels on the SSSI and the Corse.
It lists as stakeholders four local individuals all employed or beholden to the National Trust.
The local councils have not been consulted.
These works is justified as a “vision” a “sustainable approach”” to conserve the natural environment””works with natural processes”.”improve the centre of the Corse”
To” cope with the inevitable sea water inundation”, they refer to Chart Datum Liverpool which is not applicable to coast of Wales, some land is rising some land is falling..
They completely ignore the need for occasional seawater to maintain the Calcareous Water Meadow SSSI with the need to alleviate Winter Flooding
THEY COMPLETELY DENY THE DRAINAGE SYSTEM BUILT IN 1798 AWARDED A GOLD MEDAL BY THE ROYAL SOCIETY IN 1800 AND NOW LISTED GRADE 2 OF HISTORIC IMPORTANCE TO THE HISTORY OF AGRICULTURE WHICH WITH MINIMUM MAINTENCE HAS CARRIED OUT THESE FUNCTIONS FOR TWO HUNDRED YEARS UNTIL THE NATIONAL TRUST ABANDONNED MAINTENANCE AND BEGAN DEMOLITION BY STEALTH TO EARN £3.5 MILLION TO ALLOW FILMING .
THE NATIONAL TRUST WILL SOON SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO PEMBROKESHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL TO CLOSE THE B4139 AT THE TURN OFF FROM THE ROAD TO ANGLE TO CASTLEMARTIN.
A NEW ROAD WILL BE BUILT PAST STARMANS HALL BY THE NATIONAL TRUST TO A CAR PARK AT THE BEACH THE NATIONAL TRUST WILL THEN CHARGE EVERYONE £5 PER VISIT, WITH ONLY FOOT ACCESS TO THE ENTIRE BEACH AND BURROWS.
VISITORS CAN NOW PARK TO ENJOY THE VIEW FREQUENTLY THEY CANNOT GET OUT OF THEIR CARS THE WEATHER IS SO EXTREME,

A MAGNIFICENT EXPERIENCE. THE REMAINING STRETCH OF THE PEMBROKESHIRE COAST WITH FREE ACCESS IS SOON TO BE LOST TO THOSE WHO CAN AFFORD TO PAY.

There is barely a day that goes by when I don't visit Freshwater West living so near to it and loving it dearly. However, having been to public meetings on this proposal, and having kept up to date on plans as far as possible,(I have found the Trust to be open about their plans) I am very confused by this information about the road closure and car park charging, as this is not something that has been confirmed at any meeting or discussion with the Trust so far - in fact the opposite has frequently been stated. I would be grateful if you could explain your hard evidence base for these assertions, which would no doubt help me and people to make an informed decision. As I understand it, the NT do not own the road - it is the council - therefore I do not understand how they would be able to close it. I would urge everyone reading this to contact the NT in Stackpole directly to help them make an informed opinion - before taking this website campaign as the 'truth' and getting unnecessarily concerned about something which I for one believe is very unlikely to be happening. Thank you. Local resident and FW lover!
